Update On The Pandemic

“As at 09:00 pm March 30, there are 131 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 2 deaths. This was reported by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control via their Twitter handle. “Of the 131 cases, Lagos currently has 81, FCT 25, Oyo eight, Kaduna and Ogun three each, Enugu, Edo, Bauchi and Osun two each, while Ekiti, Rivers, and Benue have one each,” the tweet reads.

Buhari Signs COVID-19 Act, Orders Lockdown For Abuja, Lagos.

President Muhammadu Buhari signed the COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, which declared COVID-19 a dangerous infectious disease on Monday. This according to Femi Adesina the special adviser to the President, is in line with the exercising of the powers conferred on Buhari by Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Quarantine Act (CAP Q2 LFN 2004), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf. In his statement on Monday, the presidential spokesman noted that the regulations, effective March 30, 2020, also gave legal backing to the various measures outlined in the President’s National Broadcast on  March 29, 2020, such as Restriction/Cessation of Movement in Lagos, FCT and Ogun State and others toward containing the spread of the pandemic in the country. The Pandemic: Two New Cases Confirmed, Total Cases Now 46

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control ( NCDC ) has announced the confirmation of two fresh cases of  coronavirus  in Lagos and Osun States respectively. The agency announced the update on its official Twitter account. With this development, the total number of cases now stands at 46. Both cases are returning travelers to Nigeria in the last 7 days. As at 07:00 am 25th March, there are 46 confirmed cases of  #COVID19  in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death. 

Just In!!! One New Case Of Covid19 Confirmed In Abuja

As of 11:00 am on Sunday, 22nd of March there are now 27 confirmed cases of the Covid19 Coronavirus in Nigeria. The new case was reported in the federal capital territory, Abuja and was also confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) via their twitter account.

Ghana Records First Death From Coronavirus

One of the victims of the fast-spreading coronavirus has reportedly died in Ghana, authorities have confirmed. According to the Ghana Health Ministry, the 61-year-old male Lebanese trader and resident in Kumasi was unwell and reported to a health facility with fever, and cough. The sample tested positive for COVID-19. His case, which was the 11th confirmed infection in the country was reported on Thursday, March 19. Deputy Health Minister Alex Abban who confirmed the death to Accra based Citi News noted that: “The information I got from the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service is that that person [the Lebanese man] has died.” Earlier today the country recorded three(3) new confirmed cases of the fast-spreading Coronavirus pandemic, making a total of 19 cases in all, GhanaWeb reported. Coronavirus Update: Nigeria Records 4 New Cases, Current Total 26.

The Federal Government on Sunday confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 in the country which brings the total number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease in Nigeria to 26. The new cases were confirmed early Sunday morning by the centre for disease control (NCDC). The agency on its Twitter handle said of the 26 confirmed cases, two have fully recovered and have been discharged. No death has been recorded in Nigeria from the disease which has killed thousands of people globally. "Three cases were reported in Lagos State and One in Oyo State, and have travel history to high-risk countries in the last seven days” “We’re working closely with Lagos State Ministry Of Health to identify and follow up with contacts,” the NCDC said of the new cases.

COVID19: FG To Close Down Lagos And Abuja International Airports

Due to the increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in Nigeria from 12 on Thursday to 22 on Saturday, the FG, through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, said on Saturday it would close Abuja and Lagos airports on Monday. The Director-General, NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, in a circular to airline operators on Saturday, said only emergency and essential flights would be exempted from the restrictions. He however, said domestic airlines would continue normal flight operations. The NCAA’s directive came barely 48 hours after it announced the closure of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano,  Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa. BREAKING!!! Coronavirus: Nigeria Records Five New Cases

Nigeria has recorded 5 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus, this new development makes a total of 8 confirmed cases in the country. All 5 cases had a travel history to the UK and US. Nobody has died from the disease in Nigeria and one of the earlier three cases had completely recovered.

COVID-19: Nigeria Places Travel Ban On Thirteen Countries.

As a precautionary measure to control the spread of the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus, the Federal Government of Nigeria has placed a travel ban on thirteen (13) countries with very serious cases of the Coronavirus. The countries are China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Switzerland.

NYSC Shuts Down Orientation Camp Due To Coronavirus

In light of the recent reported cases of the COVID-19 virus, the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) has put a stop to its orientation programme across all states in the country. The body, however, pointed out that corp members will still be posted for their places of primary assignment and would be invited back for orientation when the situation improves. JUST IN!!! Coronavirus Update: Third Case Of Covid19 Confirmed In Nigeria.

A third case of the Novel Coronavirus has just been confirmed in Lagos, Nigeria. This is a new case totally independent of the index case. The patient is Nigerian female, 30 years of age, who just very recently returned from the UK, precisely on the 13th of March. She observed self-isolation, developed symptoms and tested positive to Covid-19. She is currently at Mainland General Hospital receiving medical care.

Lagos Explosion: Sanwo-Olu Briefs Buhari

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu updated President Muhammadu Buhari on developments arising from Sunday’s explosion at Abule Ado. The governor briefed State House correspondents after the closed-door meeting with the president in Abuja on Monday. Coronavirus: Stop Patronizing Fairly Used Clothes “Okrika” - NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency has urged Nigerians to desist from purchasing and patronizing fairly used clothing with the current challenge the world faces that is the Coronavirus. The appeal was made on Sunday, at a workshop by Evans Ugoh the Head of Abia/Imo operations. Speaking at the workshop, Mr Ugoh emphasized that the continued patronage of fairly used clothes puts the country at risk of spreading the virus. He therefore beseeched the Federal Government to discourage the importation of fairly used clothes by placing sanctions on them.
