With the two-weeks presidential lockdown order coming to an end and the coronavirus continues to spread to more states in the country, Nigerians are yet to know if the lockdown will be extended or not. President Muhammadu Buhari had on Saturday issued a statement to the public through its Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu,  which has left many Nigerians wondering if the lockdown on Lagos, Abuja and Ogun states has now become indefinite as the president was not specific but rather said the lockdown will last as long as necessary if recommended by medical experts. As Nigerians continue to stay at home following the total lockdown imposed on Lagos, Ogun and Abuja over the coronavirus pandemic, vice president Yemi Osinbajo has stated that President Muhammadu  Buhari  is very much concerned about the daily survival of Nigerians among other issues associated with the lockdown. Following the arrival of the   Chinese doctors   who are supposed to aid in the combat against the spread of   coronavirus in Nigeria , Nigerians have taken to social media to give a poor reception of the medical team. In a new twitter trend, ‘ChinaMustExplain’, Nigerians express their minds on the arrival of the Chinese doctors. Recall that the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA rejected the move by the federal government to invite Chinese doctor to Nigeria. Here are some of the thoughts on social media:

Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed 16 new cases of Coronavirus,  COVID-19  across the country, bringing the total to 254. The agency broke the news by releasing a statement via Twitter on Tuesday. Delta and Katsina also recorded their first cases. “Sixteen new cases of  COVID-19  have been reported in Nigeria: 10 in Lagos, 2 in the FCT, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Delta and 1 in Katsina. “As at 09:30 pm 7th April, there are 254 confirmed cases of  COVID-19  reported in Nigeria. Forty-four have been discharged with six deaths,” NCDC tweeted.

“As at 09:00 pm March 30, there are 131 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 2 deaths. This was reported by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control via their Twitter handle. “Of the 131 cases, Lagos currently has 81, FCT 25, Oyo eight, Kaduna and Ogun three each, Enugu, Edo, Bauchi and Osun two each, while Ekiti, Rivers, and Benue have one each,” the tweet reads.

President Muhammadu Buhari signed the COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, which declared COVID-19 a dangerous infectious disease on Monday. This according to Femi Adesina the special adviser to the President, is in line with the exercising of the powers conferred on Buhari by Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Quarantine Act (CAP Q2 LFN 2004), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf. In his statement on Monday, the presidential spokesman noted that the regulations, effective March 30, 2020, also gave legal backing to the various measures outlined in the President’s National Broadcast on  March 29, 2020, such as Restriction/Cessation of Movement in Lagos, FCT and Ogun State and others toward containing the spread of the pandemic in the country. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control ( NCDC ) has announced the confirmation of two fresh cases of  coronavirus  in Lagos and Osun States respectively. The agency announced the update on its official Twitter account. With this development, the total number of cases now stands at 46. Both cases are returning travelers to Nigeria in the last 7 days. As at 07:00 am 25th March, there are 46 confirmed cases of  #COVID19  in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death. 

As of 11:00 am on Sunday, 22nd of March there are now 27 confirmed cases of the Covid19 Coronavirus in Nigeria. The new case was reported in the federal capital territory, Abuja and was also confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) via their twitter account.

The Federal Government on Sunday confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 in the country which brings the total number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease in Nigeria to 26. The new cases were confirmed early Sunday morning by the centre for disease control (NCDC). The agency on its Twitter handle said of the 26 confirmed cases, two have fully recovered and have been discharged. No death has been recorded in Nigeria from the disease which has killed thousands of people globally. "Three cases were reported in Lagos State and One in Oyo State, and have travel history to high-risk countries in the last seven days” “We’re working closely with Lagos State Ministry Of Health to identify and follow up with contacts,” the NCDC said of the new cases.

The Italian man who also is the patient with the index case of Covid-19 Coronavirus in Nigeria has just been discharged.

A third case of the Novel Coronavirus has just been confirmed in Lagos, Nigeria. This is a new case totally independent of the index case. The patient is Nigerian female, 30 years of age, who just very recently returned from the UK, precisely on the 13th of March. She observed self-isolation, developed symptoms and tested positive to Covid-19. She is currently at Mainland General Hospital receiving medical care.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu updated President Muhammadu Buhari on developments arising from Sunday’s explosion at Abule Ado. The governor briefed State House correspondents after the closed-door meeting with the president in Abuja on Monday.
